2022.01.17 23:02 tfnc21 “conjuring closet”
Hey Courtney, I’m keeping my name Anonymous if you don’t mind, but if here to share a creepy ass experience with my closet. So I’ll begin :), I’ll been living in this house for a while and I didn’t really experience stuff but some of my family members would get sleep paralysis in random rooms. But anyways, me and my sibling share a room and we have this big closet in the corner I would joke around with my sibling and call it the “conjuring closet” because of that scene where the demon lady jumps on the girl while her sister was sleepwalking. But I called it that because it would remind me of it and because it always gave me weird vibes. So after I started calling it that. That’s when things started getting creepy. Some days I would see the closet open when no one opened it or it would have a crack of it opened. Sometimes I would hear noises from it like knocks and things “moving” but what really fucked with me was at night we used to sleep with some lights on but we started sleeping with one light and I would wake up in the middle of the night seeing a shadow peeking at me and hiding when I would catch it. I never got scared I just was tired but this would happen every night, I remember once I woke up to see a shadow with a hat peeking at me and then it’s had more hands on the sides with it. I wasn’t scared but I was annoyed because when I would see it. It would be difficult to sleep because I kept checking on it and seeing if it’s still there. I don’t know if it’s my head playing tricks on me or it’s actually there but I stopped calling it the conjuring closet after that.

2022.01.17 23:02 llookathentai Collecting, China, Scalping, Streetwear and NFTs. This is post about Streetwear and how they have become intertwined with NFTs.
DISCLAIMER: I will mention a few larger projects in this post that you've likely seen already, I'll avoid any smaller projects names as not to seem like I'm shilling. I do own some of these projects and as such please take everything I say and explain here with a grain of salt and do your own research if this post piques your interest.
Streetwear and Scalping
Most of you will know that there are a certain type of subset of people known as sneakerhead, people who love collecting the rarest and latest jordans, yeezys and supreme clothes. Many of you will now that these shoes can easily cost hundreds to thousands for the rarest pairs known as "grails". These people are collectors of shoes and clothing and can have hundreds to thousands to burn on the latest clothing item. It might look niche from the outside but this is a huge multi billion dollar industry and it has been booming for the last 10 years or so. Each hype release on the same concept: artificial scarcity of an item to drive up hype for a product. This has been so effective that these sneakers and shirts can sell for hundreds to thousands easily on the second markets just to meet demand. Of course when there is that much money going around many people all want a piece of that pie.
This is the world of resellers AKA scalpers. Dominated by bots and exclusive groups. For the past few years they have made buying any rare streetwear item hard to get. However despite what it seems like companies don't really enjoy it when their customers are constantly expressing huge annoyance with how their launches go as it drives them away. Stores need some stock to be taken by normal people and that's when the cat and mouse game of sneaker reselling is: the dev teams of nike, adidas, footlocker working their ass off to make anti bot and a small team of 3 - 4 teenagers constantly trying to find the new exploit to be able to buy the shoes as fast and as many as possible.
The thing is the companies don't have to win this battle at all, they just have to make running for these shoes so costly that the profit margins simply aren't worth it anymore. What do I mean by this? Well botting isn't as easy as clicking a go button and getting the item, bots often cost thousands of dollars (in their peak most bots can cost 5000 to 15000 USD and they will often have a renewal fee), proxies are needed so that sites don't ban you when you send in thousands of requests per minute, you need to run servers, need to ship out these shoes, need to buy nike accounts. and yet everyday more and more botters joined making it harder and harder to consistently start getting pairs meaning you'd burn hundreds of dollars and when you did hit you'd maybe get 50 or 300$ profit if you're lucky. So they moved on to the next best thing: PS5s and Graphics cards. But these aren't artificially scarce and as time goes on profit margins for these lower so where do they go? Yep thats right: NFTs.
NFTs Nuclear Rise out of Nowhere and the immense profits that followed
NFTs started to hit news on the internet with Cryptopunks, BAYC and MAYC as they were starting to sell for 10's of thousands. Most people scoffed, as did many sneakear bros. However you gotta remember, these rare sneakers have essentially become status symbols and many peopled wanted that status, something to flex for the flex. Shoe releases were slowing down due to both corona and hype for many shoes was at an all time low as many found themselves burnt out of the shame shoes over and over. Everyone can buy a yeezy for retail now, there isn't much exclusivity in it, supreme hadn't been popular in a while, dunks were getting tiring and travis scott (who was driving the hype behind dunks) got a lotta negative press and only jordans really remained on top. Furthermore these sneakerheads could no longer flex their thousand dollar sneakers since there wasn't much going outside due to the pandemic. I cannot stress how large corona has been an influencer in the idea of "digital ownership" and the Metaverse, people wanted to own and flex shit to others but how can you do that when you don't see 99% of people anymore? Take it digital of course.
The chinese were the first real big wave in NFTs, digital ownership and digital money didn't receive so much hate and many started to buy in to these new status symbols. This is when many of the very pricy established NFT projects started to take off: things like cool cats, Doodles, Art blocks, Decentraland etc. All very expensive projects now started to hit 1 ETH and it spread like wildfire. These people had turned 0.1 ETH into 1 or even 10 ETH, there was fucking immense returns and crypto bros, influences and sneaker bros started to jump head first in. The other side also started to gather, peoples art is getting stolen, the environment, ETH gas prices were going astronomical whenever a hyped project was getting launched but most of all holy shit NFT bros cannot stop shilling and tweeting and fuck they all look kinda ugly and low effort for the insane pricetag. Meming ensued but this has created the single most powerful effect I've seen in NFTs: a severe and huge advertisement for BAYC, MAYC. NFTs were starting to headline constantly, celebrities like snoop dog started to drop millions into projects, mark cuban started to get into NFTs and most of all Chinese sneakerheads embraced it fully. In other words? The meming and FUD for NFTs has created a massive amount of FOMO and acted as the perfect advertisement to slingshot NFTs into popularity.
Current Times and my personal opinion on the future of NFT projects
Soon sneaker botters started seeing the signs, NFTs were the new wave. Every single group that did not start offering NFT flipping / calls started seeing mass user migration as people started leaving in droves for those that did. Guess what? Users loved it and are loving it as making these calls was surprisingly easy. Why you might ask? See the thing about NFT Projects are, they all follow a similar structure: sneakpeak on twitter, discord launch with whitelist guaranteeing you the right to mint an NFT, public launch of discord, which is when you can very easily tell if a project is worth it as userbases for "hyped" discords usually gain 25k discord members in the first hours if its a small to medium launch or if the launch has lots of hype on it then it can even be 100k+ members on discord in an hour. These projects then have some tasks that need to be done to gain whitelist for the NFT (usually to increase the members and buzz around the project) and by being a active member in the community. Then finally the public launch at which point the price can quickly go insane. The more unique your project is, whether thats offering a game, a token for holding, a DAO or just cool looking art will make it stand out and will cause more and more buzz around said project.
Similarly those small dev teams realized that you could actually pick apart public contracts for faults and mint multiple to maximise profits, that you could write bots to mint as many as possible. But this time they had the edge, there was no billion dollar established company on the other side pouring millions into top notch anti bot. Now there was a small team of devs with their hands full with launching their project. They don't have the time or the money to develop a crazy anti bot and as such bots have seen immense success in the space as whales continue to dominate mints.
NFTs have become extremely popular and are continuing to rise up but it will eventually hit a wall. We all know it, NFTs are in a massive FOMO bubble right now and it will eventually pop. Only the really established projects will remain. This is why I personally think investing into NFTs on nearly the same level as shitcoins. However I think they are better then most shitcoins as it is very easy to tell when certain projects will do well initially (much harder post launch) and this is when you can make good profits. It is high risk for very high reward. As such I personally think NFTs should not be something you just buy in on with all your ETH but rather to have a small % you are fine with losing (as after all its pretty degen and can cause you losses) investing in projects that seem to be generating massive hype.
TL;DR: Streetwear burn out + corona stopping you from flexing --> flex digitially caused initial drive to NFTs. China and the huge amount of memes from general public created a huge billboard for NFTs and launched them into mainstream very quickly. Scalper bros went from botting shoes to botting NFTs because better margins and less work to do well in NFTs. Huge userbases flocked over all greedy and looking for profits leading to now. NFTs = fomo bubble that will pop and only well known project will survive IMO. Worth keeping an eye on if you have a taste for high risk for mad gainz

2022.01.17 23:02 NorthOaklandGuy Early PE Exam California?
It looks like you’re not even supposed to start your California PE application until you sit the PE.
I’ll have my experience by the middle of this year. Do I need to wait for experience to sit the PE? Or can I start studying now and sit the PE a month or so before I have experience so my result will be ready to go when it’s time for me to start my application?

2022.01.17 23:01 aitosupreme Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2 Broke in 1 Year
I got the Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2 as a gift for Christmas last year. I was excited to upgrade because I had a pretty basic RIG headset for a while. Series X, New headset, Cyberpunk 2077... Man, I was in heaven. Which quickly became hell as I hit 60 mph in Night City and the game crashed. Not once. Not twice. You get the point, Cyberpunk is a different story entirely (holding out for next-gen update gang). The sound of the dashboard appearing after each crash was crisp. The 700 Gen 2 had a great set of features which I thoroughly enjoyed. I found the bluetooth to be especially useful as I could use my smooth brain to game and listen to music/YouTube simultaneously. The sound quality was plenty impressive to my non-audiophile ears and Dobly Atmos was a pleasure. I checked for updates frequently but the headset has only required one since I got it. Of course, from the title you know it's not all sunshine and rainbows. The headset has some negatives. Most audio adjustments can only be made using the headset. Although the headset is very compatible with the Xbox, you will need to use an app on a tablet, phone, or laptop for increased customization. The app seemed to have plenty of features but I rarely found myself using it. If you join a party, the headset will not be recognized unless you adjust the volume using one of the dials. Even when the headset is on or if you turn it on while in the party. Odd. Almost a year into owning the headset, the chat volume dial became finicky. I would adjust my game volume as usual to a pleasurable volume then adjust the chat to hear people. The chat volume dial would cause the headset to beep signaling max volume, however, the party chat was a suboptimal volume. Not only was the volume a terrible level but the headset would no longer be recognizable in the party. Over time, It became a fight with dial to recognize peoples' voices and that the mic was paired. I searched online and it seems that are similar cases to my own, but I thought I'd let you guys know. The fight is over. Today, I went to GameStop and bought the SteelSeries Arctis 9X, hopefully, it lasts longer than a year. Thanks for reading.
TLDR; Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2 has nice features but the chat volume dial on the headset became faulty after one year.

2022.01.17 23:01 Educational-Bowl-186 My friend and I argued over weed, and I feel a little emotionally traumatized
So, before I get into detail, my parents/school taught me about drugs and it’s negative side effects, and so this was my perspective on smoking/drugs. I’m currently a senior in high school, she’s a year older than me, and I’m well aware that there’s kids my age who smoke and other things secretly. At first I thought it was just the edgy, weird kids who’d always get caught in the bathroom, but apparently ig everyone kinda does it???? Here’s where I’m going with this. Me and my friend were texting on snap. I commented on her story bc I saw that her eyes were red and I thought she was sad and I asked her “hey are you ok? Your eyes are kinda red” and she said “yea I was just high lol” and naturally me, not being used to this yet, freaked out and tried to tell her to get help. She immediately fired back at me and hit me with passionate words like “weed is legal for veterans, literally did a whole school project on how it’s not that bad, it helps with anxiety(I’m aware that’s true but still) all those pretty girls you see? All of them do weed. I don’t do it every day, it’s not like Im a druggie.” I tried to tell her my point of view yet she was still passionate about her POV on weed. It’s not necessarily the fact that the argument was about weed(an already controversial subject today) but the fact that she kinda made me question my own reality, like was everybody around me doing weed? Was my life and everything I was taught a lie? I felt kinda emotionally lied to and cheated, and this happened nearly a month ago and I still feel emotionally upset about the situation. I want to make it clear that I don’t judge people who smoke(at least not anymore, Im adjusting to change) but I feel like my friend was kinda harsh about her perspective on it, to where it kinda hurt me in the end. I’m a little confused, I don’t smoke myself and I don’t really plan on it even in college or whatever, and I won’t judge anyone else in the future on it(unless they try to force it on me) but any advice on what I should do?
