2021.12.09 10:58 Chiquye Does anyone else organize conferenced by geography?
I have done this a couple of times (and changed it back a couple of times). But I started a franchise with Illinois in the cellar of the Big Ten. I have to have an independent school so it's Hawaii. The rest of the teams are organized by geographic region. E.G. The Big Ten I added Notre Dame and Iowa State. I have Houston in the Big 12, West Virginia in the Big East, Cincy in the MAC.
When I had the free time I used to do relegation, which was also geographically based where possible - MAC winner supplants Big Ten loser; Big 12 loser switches with Sun Belt champ; Pac-12 flips with Mountain West. It is fun because the former champ doesn't always get stomped their first season in the new conference (though it does happen sometimes). Cincy made it to the Big Ten and stayed there for 3 seasons while Indiana bounced back and forth.

2021.12.09 10:58 fatherfirst35 LVP over vinyl sheet laminate
We are in the process of building new construction, but didn’t like what the builder had to offer flooring wise so we went with the included carpet and sheet laminate. We’d like to rip and replace with LVP. I’ve seen several videos online where they just lay the LVP over the sheet laminate instead of ripping it up. Just wondered whether that was considered a bad practice or if it really doesn’t make a difference.

2021.12.09 10:58 Ordinary_CherryPie Parents mislabeling
This isn't a huge thing but it bothers me and makes me sad. I have a psd in training and my parents don't like calling it a service dog because they think it will make other people treat me weirdly so they call it an emotional support dog. First off, this creates a lottttt of public access issues and people that hear them say that will think it's ok to bring an esa into places. Second, it frustrates me because I have worked hard training my sdit and it invalidates my feelings and my disabilities. Thanks for listening.

2021.12.09 10:58 xclord 3080 Plummets to 60s
I'm wondering if anyone has ideas to point me in the right direction. I've been mining with a 3080 for about a month and have been getting +/- 96 MH/s with the following settings:
Power limit 75% Core Clock: -100 Memory Clock: 800 Fan speed: 93
I check on it every couple days and it has been very consistently in the ~95/6 range. However this mining it was around mid 80s. I launched afterburner and reapplied the profile settings and the hashrate dropped to the 60s. Unfortunately I had to go to work, so I wasn't able to mess around with it, and I just shut it down for the say. I'm not sure what I'd have done, anyway, though.
Does anyone have suggestions on where to start?

2021.12.09 10:58 Cappuccino_Addict Something I've been wondering about comic-Hawkeye
I recently remembered that a few years ago, the main-universe Hawkeye lost his arm and had a Winter Soldier-esque prosthetic.
Does anyone know how he lost his arm and how he regained it? I tried googling it, but every result was about the Hawkeye version from the What If show where he had a robot arm

2021.12.09 10:58 emerql How come Saitama doesn't get hit by blades?
I've noticed in the anime and manga, that Saitama doesn't care if he gets hit with a high energy beam or the strongest of punches, but when it comes to blades, he seems to either dodge it or break the blade, rather than letting it hit him.
Examples: Speed O' sound Sonic's first encounter, he goes for Saitama's eye, but Saitama grabs and breaks his blade. Another case is when Sonic attacks him in the downtown area, but Saitama bites the blade into pieces.
MA arc: When Flashy Flash attacks Saitama, he moves his head to dodge rather than letting the blade strike.
Webcomic: When the ninjas attack Saitama, he basically eats their blades, rather than allowing them to strike him

I'm living at home with some really transphobic relatives and presenting cis male. I don't have any of my makeup or clothes or anything and I'm finding it kind of tough. Does anyone have any little things I can do that are fem affirming but not very visible?
Sorry for the weirdness! X

2021.12.09 10:58 Then-School1681 Math intensive programming vs Efficiency/cost effective programming
In college (undergrad) I loved programming tasks that revolved around math problems from research and final projects things like (optimization with HPC, fmri data processing, signal decomposition, machine learning), generally tasks that didn't have a firmly established method for solving, but allowed for exploration and critical thinking. My first job as an electrical engineer involved writing quick scripts to automate basic tasks and my first nightmare experience of writing firmware to perform a highly application specific function using a messy code base, with little access to support to understand 1000s of lines of code quickly turned me off to programming in a large company. Now I work in the legal field instead of hands on engineering work. I have no desire to write software widgets or speed up existing code. I want to work somewhere that essentially allows me to solve math problems with computers. I have been completely unable to discover programming jobs like this, even though I know they must exist. Is this something only really done by academic researcher in maths and physics? One of the firmware functions from the code base I worked with was an optimization algorithm apparently written by one of our MIT post-docs who the company sponsors. When I heard this I was so disappointed Because I realized in this role the really cool stuff would only be done by card carrying geniuses?
Am I wrong/naive? any insight/advice?
