2021.10.21 22:04 missttran Gill Brook Tent Site

Looking to hike Mt. Colvin next weekend. Was hoping to stay at the Gill Brook Tent site. Does anyone know how busy that area is this time of year? I don’t want to get there and not have a place to camp. Also, I searched old posts and it looks like there was a bear problem in the area in previous years. Is this still the case? I’m a newbie to backpacking and appreciate any advice I can get. TIA.

2021.10.21 22:04 41percentclub I have to give props to google for not censoring search results of the Selena gomez leak like bing and therefore ddg is

Bing says that some results have been removed (and they don't let u see them on lumendatabase like google to know who asked for it), The irony is that WWE Paige's leak is there on bing as the top result, so obviously bing is protecting just the rich
Unless this is just on my end and Selena's leak is showing up on ddg for the rest of y'all

2021.10.21 22:04 A_Calm_Dragon Heart of Steel CH3

It took him twenty boring hours to get to the system. It was listed as uninhabited, and was on the edge of human space bordering the Hyunulutasrata Conglomerate. The fact that it was bordering them didn't bother Greg, but the fact that it was hardly patrolled – even less so after the second Human-Hyunulutasrata War was what bothered Greg. Which meant piracy was abound and Greg was constantly scanning the system. The system had a red dwarf with seven planets, one molten, one a desert like Mars, two that were barren rocks, and three gas giants, two of which were frozen. For a while Greg just continued to scan the system, searching for signals from other ships, or anything heading his direction, and for resources he could easily acquire for the long trip back. He didn't pick up anything on the sensors, relating to ships at least. He did find a lot of useless materials however. Eventually his eyes fell upon one particular asteroid, a large cluster of them in the asteroid belt circling the red sun between the third and fourth planets. Iridium. He couldn't tell how much, but he knew there was enough in that one rock to fill up his ship, and that would – theoretically – be enough to pay off almost all of his debt. He began setting up the jump drive to take him there, running the calculations over and over again to ensure he didn't wind up smashing into it before he made the jump. A few hours later he was in his EVA suit, wearing the same type he wore in the military. It felt better than the standard white and orange civilian one he wore when at ports, he was more accustomed to it and it felt natural in comparison. It was a slightly old model of Recon Armor, but it was mass produced and therefore cheap for National Guards and Militias to get a hold of. Just a simple, tight black suit over the body, with dark gray armor plating on the legs, arms, groin, chest, and back, with the helmet detachable from the suit. The Sera National Guard took the added step of adding faded yellow and tan tiger stripes to the suit, making it a bit more unique to them and helping with grassland camouflage. There were other modifications made to it, such as an “intimidation feature” built into the helmet as well as a wireless connection to implants given to soldiers. As for personal modifications, Greg took the further step of writing in red capital letters *Remember Sera!* on the side of the helmet. When it came to the EVA Pack, it was a civilian design that was a bit bulky, and didn't match his suit colors at all with it being a bright orange, but it did the job and helped him get around as he hooked up the tethers to the asteroid. “Alright, last one,” he said to himself as he positioned the anchoring tool, then thumbed the button. With a jolt the explosive inside detonated, launching the spike deep into the asteroid, the steel cable attached to the back of it all the way up to his ship. He couldn't help but grin, the 'lightly used' tool hadn't jammed or worse, fragmented like a hand grenade. It seemed like the Universe was finally smiling on his efforts. He turned around and floated away from the asteroid back to his ship, using the same cable to guide himself as he floated up to the open mining bays. It took him an hour to get the drill set up, but when he was done it was a long, flexing tube that reminded him of a metal snake with grinding arrays on the front to funnel the material through. The rollers on the inside would push the material along to the sorter, which would remove most of the dust and rock, and hopefully, leave him with more iridium than shattered wishes. He floated back out to the asteroid, letting the long metal tube float at his side as he pounded some foot holds into the asteroid before stepping into them and grabbing the drilling tube again, holding onto the handles. It was then that he noticed someone had even painted a pair of orange snake eyes onto the front, which gave him a chuckle. He turned his right arm over quick, accessing the PDA on the bottom of his forearm, and quickly turned on some music before he began drilling into the rock. Sure, his helmet had the ability to link to his implant and therefore the suit, but he preferred using the PDA on his arm instead of thinking of what he wanted the suit to do for him. *“Sun is shinin' in the sky!”* *“There ain't a cloud in sight!”* *“It's stopped rainin', everybody's in the play!”* *“And don't you know!”* *“It's a beautiful new day, hey hey!”*
It was fifteen minutes into the drilling that the drill head jammed. He pulled it out of the hole it had dug into the asteroid, turned it off, and pounded it against the brown rock, sending clouds of dust into the vacuum. Once the jam was cleared he turned it back on and started drilling again, boring deeper into the rocky surface. He got another half hour in before the drill head spontaneously fragmented, chunks of steel and rock spinning out of the borehole, and he cursed his luck. The cold, dark, uncaring universe was laughing at his exertion and attempts to change his fate.
He didn't have a replacement, and only filled one of the four cargo rooms with dust, rock, and iridium to about a quarter full. Sure, each cargo room was 4,000 cubic feet which meant he had about a thousand cubic feet of iridium...and dust and rock... He began doing mental math as he floated the conveyor tube back to the ship, hooking it back into it's compartment along with the sorter, then floated back out to the asteroid to unhook his ship from it. He left the hooks in it, and placed a beacon on the asteroid before taking the cables back into storage. Another three hours gone and he was exhausted. Still, he figured he had at least $2,073,536...the math felt very off to him, and he highly doubted he had that much even if iridium was $100 an ounce. The sorter could only get so much dust and rock out of it too, and the asteroid wasn't all too dense, so with his luck, along with how much he'd actually be able to sell it at, it would probably be closer to $300,000. And probably less than that too, since he was bad with math. If it was three hundred thousand, it wouldn't be that bad, except for fuel costs and now he needed a new drill head. He let out a heavy sigh as he used an air hose to blast as much dirt and dust off of himself and back into the vacuum of space, before he closed all the doors and walked back to the living section of the ship. He was just beginning to remove his suit, already having taken off the helmet at the airlock, when he heard the beeping coming from the cockpit. He half wondered whether to check it or not, then decided it was probably important and walked over. It was a signal coming from the asteroid belt, playing the same transmission over and over again. Four seconds of noise followed by another four seconds of silence. He let the computer go over the transmission and it instantly gave him a reply. It was an SOS signal, coming from a vessel without identifiers, claiming to have been damaged catastrophically in the asteroid belt while mining. It was a quarter of the way around the red star from him, hidden in a much more asteroid cluttered section of the belt, which bothered him further. He clicked his tongue in thought and drummed his fingers on the control panel. Pirates. Had to be pirates. could be miners just like him out there. But it was probably pirates. He sighed heavily, got up, walked back to the airlock and grabbed his helmet before walking back to the cockpit. It was probably pirates. But he had to do the right thing. Was it the right thing to do? He had to believe it was the right thing to do. *Always do the right thing*, his father always said. He allowed himself the smallest smile as he thought back to his father, his mother, his siblings. Then as always, his thoughts turned sour.
Damn the Continuation War, damn the Hyun for feeling threatened by a bunch of colonists simply wanting a new life on the edge of their damned Conglomerate! Hell, the human settlers actually brought trade and wealth to both sides! Damn them all to hell!
He took a deep breath and slowly let it out as he looked at the message being repeated. If they were pirates, he'd have plenty of them to take his problems out on. If they were actual miners and civilians, he could probably help them in exchange for a new drill head. He began warming up the jump drive.

2021.10.21 22:04 hectoByte How Do You Stop Being Angry At Someone?

So I was good friends with my step cousin for the last 5 years. But after a few events in the last year where he tried to sabotage me, I decided to break off the friendship a few months ago, as he is just too toxic of a person. But the thing is, every time I think about him, I get really angry, to the point I was shaking at a family dinner while I told my step-grandpa all the crap he did to me. I honestly don't think I could be in the same room as him in the foreseeable future, I hate him that much.
But the thing is, I'd like to just forget about him. He is an awful person, but I can't change the past. So how do I get over it?

2021.10.21 22:04 X-cited What “easy care” plants have you managed to kill?

I first stepped foot into the houseplant ring 3 years ago by buying a golden pothos (what else?), a dumb cane and a croton. The croton died a sad, miserable death and for a few years now that has been the only plant I killed. I don’t credit that to my amazing plant skills but to my skill of finding low effort plants that work with my space. Until… I got a spider plant.
“Wait wait, a spider plant? But those are one of the easiest plants to take care of!”
You’re right, of course. But here I sit in my house, looking at my dead spider plant, wondering how this happened. I have philos and pothos and syngoniums and tradescantias. But a dang spider plant couldn’t figure out how to survive in my dang kitchen and just noped on out of this earthly coil.
So I was wondering, who else has killed an “easy” plant? I can’t be the only one… right?
